The perfect little hideaway! Located on 6th Street and less than 75-yards from the 6th Street beach entrance. The 6th Street beach access offers a GREAT stretch of beach where it is rarely crowded and always has plenty of sand at low and high tides, providing you with plenty of room to walk in both directions.
6th Street is a quiet street with great neighbors and the best beach on East Beach.
THE SPACE
This cottage was built in 1952. In the 40's and 50's the many of the Brunswick "town people" would migrate to the island for the summer. As soon as school was out they would load up the station wagons and head across the causeway.
This cottage is now owned by a family member of a Brunswick Mayor during that time period, hence the name "Mayor's Cottage".
Mayor's Cottage is ideal for a couple or a single traveler. Enter into the open living space with a small, but nicely equipped kitchen. You will have a refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster, and Keurig Duo. Seating for dining is either at the kitchen bar or the cute dining area located on the front patio next to the gas grill, which you are welcome to use.
In the den is a comfortable sitting area (sofa and lounge chair) with a large smart TV for your viewing pleasure.
In the bedroom is a new queen foam mattress (fall 2023), closet space and a recently updated bathroom with shower.
Attached to the right of the front entry is a laundry room with a full size washer and dryer for your private use.
Why Stay on East Beach:
The stretch of beach along the ocean side of St. Simons Island is known as East Beach. A quant neighborhood of single-family homes begins at the access point of the U.S. Coast Guard Station at the northern tip and ends at the southern point of Gould's Inlet by access of Bruce Drive, which runs down the center of East Beach. The Coast Guard Station houses the present home to the World War II Home Front Museum.

Beach Gear Included!: This home offers beach gear such as beach chairs and beach towels FREE for your use! Bikes, carts, paddleboards and more are available for rent locally, discount included. There are no fees or surchages attached to your reservation.
Pets: This is not a pet friendly home.
No Smoking: No smoking is allowed in the home, on the porches/patios/decks, or on the property in general.
Minimum Age: Must be 25 + to book, or age 30 + on GAFL weekend (last weekend in October) For GAFL weekend(last weekend in October), guests must be age 30 + or kids with their parents, no student groups. We cannot make exceptions for that weekend.
No Events: No events or parties. No overnight guests beyond the original booking group.
